Rameez Shehzad and Babar Hassan smashed superb unbeaten half centuries as UBL outclassed Alubond Tigers by a huge seven wickets in the newly launched KFC Emirates T20 Club Cricket League 2013 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The tournament is organised for the first time by the Emirates Cricket Board’s Domestic Cricket Development Committee (ECB-DCDC) and is presented by Grand Midwest Hotels.
Needing 153 to win, UBL lost three wicket with just 55 on board.
Aqeel Anwar had made a 26-ball 25 with four boundaries.
Shehzad and Hassan took up the challenge and kept the Alubond Tigers bowlers at bay sharing an unbroken 98-run stand.
Shehzad hit 56 off 44 balls with seven boundaries and a six while Hassan smashed 53 not out from 33 deliveries peppered with five fours and two sixes.
Earlier, Alubond Tigers rued their decision to bat first with both openers with just 12 on the board.
Yaser Ajmal revived the innings with an amazing unbeaten knock of 64 from 52 deliveries studded with six boundaries and two sixes.
Asghar Khan (16), Muhammad Azam (25) and Umair Ali (12) also chipped in as Alubond Tigers scored 152 for four in 20 overs.
