Phoenix Medicine entered the final of the 5th Al Dhaid Ramadan Cup tournament defeating GMW Royal by five wickets in the semifinals at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council.
Phoenix Medicine will now meet Dubai Lions in the final.
Batting first, GMW Royal top order batsmen put on a good show with Imran Ali scoring a steady 33-ball 30 with just one boundary. Sameer Shah (19) and Jumma Gul (12) took off well but failed convert it to big scores.
Amjad Gul then fought a lone battle to smash 47 runs from just 29 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes. His efforts ensured GMW Royal piled on a 137 for nine in 20 overs.
Asif Mumtaz claimed three wickets for Phoenix Medicine in his four overs conceding 36 runs.
Replying a challenging target, Phoenix Medicine openers provided a quick start. Hafiz Kaleem faced 18 deliveries to score 24 including a boundary and two sixes while Fahad Ansari struck three sixes and one boundary to score a fast 19-ball 27.
Phoenix Medicine were suddenly in a tight situation when they lost a couple of quick wickets before Saqlain Haider added a patient 26-ball 22 while man of the match Ayoub Inayat blasted an unbeaten 32 from 25 balls with three hits to the fence and one over it as Phoenix Medicine crossed the target in the final over.
For GMW Royal Raziq Khan and Imran Ali bagged two wickets each.
