Another young talent, another selling tale.
Arsene Wenger is still the boss at the Emirates Stadium and while a 5-2 glossy win over 10-man Tottenham Hotspur might delay the inevitable – Arsenal’s inexorable slide out of the top four, the fact is another young star may be headed to the team.
Not Raheem Sterling, surely.
Instead, Spain’s El Confidencial have it that Arsenal are in pursuit of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
Which begs the question, why?
To home, exemplify, finish… and then sell?
The Madrid born forward recently came off the bench last night to score a late winner for Jose Mourinho’s side at Levante, but is not guaranteed a spot in the starting eleven. He is drawing comparisons to Ronaldo for his finishing.
A loan move to Arsenal is on.
Arsene Wenger, in his infinite wisdom now has even Lukas Podolski playing wide, which puts all central striking pressure on Olivier Giroud. Enter Morata.
While several Gunners fans are worried that ‘brand’ Arsenal is slowly being diluted – from ‘the Invincibles’ to a Selling Club, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott continue to revive memories of what would have been possible if Robin Van Persie and maybe Samir Nasri were still there.
Santi Cazorla is the new Fabregas. Bacary Sagna suddenly has found the power and precision to deliver pin-point crosses.
Jack Wilshere is growing with every game in to the world clas player everyone believes he is.
And then there is Olivier Giroud.
Who seems ready to score a few crackers now.
So why are Arsenal fans still tense? Still worried? Still not sure?
Will the coming of a young Morata with 34 goals in 69 appearances for Real Madrid B and 11 goals in 13 appearances for Spain’s under-19 side change things?
Or, is the reality that Arsenal are four players short of a Premier League winning side?
